THE FOOD TRANSITION
A shared challenge
The on-going food transition demands leadership, cooperation and innovation from everyone active in the food sector. BFG thinks ahead and takes the opportunities and challenges of today and tomorrow into account. The numerous challenges we are facing together include the protein transition, responsible production, stimulating healthy eating, reducing CO2 emissions and combating food waste.
In 2050 there will be over nine billion people living on our planet and needing to be supplied with food. How are we, together, going to do this? We want to start thinking about this now. Because already, today, one in ten people around the world go to bed hungry. At the same time the agricultural sector is producing food surpluses that are in danger of being wasted. We are searching continuously to find the right balance.
On top of that, nature and the climate can hardly meet our current food needs. Environmental themes, such as climate change, pollution, biodiversity, ecosystems and the circular economy, are playing a major role for everyone in the food world, including us. We are playing an active role in answering today’s demands and meeting the shared challenges of tomorrow.
